About us
The Brooklyn College Small Business Center (SBC) was founded in February 2009 as an outgrowth of Brooklyn College's strategic vision of being a model citizen of and a resource for the Brooklyn community and has the mission of driving the economic revitalization of surrounding community while fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship on the Brooklyn College campus. The center providesfinancial management, marketing assistance, project management and business planning services to start-up and existing businesses in the Flatbush/Midwood area of Brooklyn.
The SBC is staffed by a part-time director and up to 10 student interns who are paired with entrepreneurs on semester-long projects. Students selected for the internship currently are majoring in Business Management and Finance as well as other business related disciplines. Students are mentored by faculty members of the Economics department as well as the center director. Projects are designed to increase and improve a client's capacity in managing company finances or effectively marketing the company and to provide hands-on experience to students in entrepreneurship.
